Danny was diagnosed with cancer when he was just 13. I went into a state of shock and had to be in the hospital for over 2 weeks. Being his father made me feel I had let him down somehow and in those two weeks, I was only able to speak with Danny over the phone and when he came for visits with his mom. He
had started to receive the treatment he needed but the bills had started piling up and we didn’t know what to do. After I left the hospital, I had to take up a second job and so did my wife just so we could at least keep up with some of the bills. The next 6 months was a long battle that left both of us devastated and broken but we just had to hang in knowing that things were going to work out somehow and everything would be fine. And then it happened – a miracle. It wasn’t too long that our hopes of Danny getting the treatment he needed and the necessary care materialized. We received a large donation from someone who participated in a go-fund-me campaign set up by friends and with the funds, we were able to offset our bills and pay for the continuation of his treatment. We want to say a very big thank you to friends and family who took the time to put our needs out there and for members of the public who donated generously to help see that Danny gets better. Thank you America, we knew we could always count on you.
